She saw her brother on the mountain so she jumped out and swam back to the island to get her brother. Karana found her brother and they went back to camp. The next morning Karana’s brother was gone. She went to go find him,but she found him dead. The wild dogs killed him. She was on the island for about 18 years. If you want to find more about the book read it. I thought it was a very good book.

Number the stars is a book I read in reading class. The story takes place in Denmark were the Nazis were invading. Annemarie Johansen is the main character and is a young danish girl. On coming home from school with her Jewish friend Ellen and younger sister Kirsti they notice a Jewish shop closed. They will soon find out that Germans are planning to relocate Jews. Annemarie will have her courage tested in this exciting book of adventure! In this story there is a girl named Karana that lives on the island of Ghalas-at with her father Chief Chowig, her brother Ramo, and the rest of her tribe. After her father was killed by Russian soldiers Karana and her tribe were put on a ship to go to a new land. Her brother was left behind by her tribe so she jumped into the ocean and swam to the island. While she is on the island she finds out that her brother was killed by wild dogs. After that she vows to kill the leader of the wild dogs. One day she shoots the leader, but feels sorry for him. She takes him to her house and names him Rontu. Rontu dies and she is lonely once more. Then she finds Rontu’s son and names him Rontu Aru. She also finds birds. One day white men come and she goes with them and that is the end of the story.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry is a very suspenseful story. I really liked this book because it was always interesting. It is about a girl named Annemarie and her Jewish friend Ellen going through a war. Throughout the book, Ellen and her family were wanted by the Nazis ( in Denmark) so Ellen had to go with Annemarie's family( Ellen’s parents had left Denmark) so they were all in danger. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good book to read. This is a true story. Father went with all men to get their earnings.Father died in the attack.Soon after Ramo,Karana's brother died from wild dogs.Karana finds resources to live her life.Soon she meets an Aleut girl and feels a peck of joy but still,she was an enemy.Soon after that Rontu,Karana's dog died. After,she saw a puppy that looked and ran just like him. She caught him and named him Rontu-Alu wich ment "Son of Rontu."She met an otter and her young and made friends. Ellen’s parents go into hiding and Ellen stays with Annemarie in her apartment, when she pretends to be Annemarie’s dead sister, Lise. One night, soldiers come into her apartment to search it. The next day, Annemarie, Ellen, her sister, and her mother take the train to stay with Annemarie’s Uncle to be safe. This is one of my favorite books!

One night Ellen stayed over and pretended to be Lise, Annemarie’s dead sister, and Nazis came but they tricked them. After that they went to Annemarie’s uncle. You have to read the book to figure out what happens next.
